Wadi Shab is Oman's most famous canyon — a walk through date palms and towering cliffs leading to turquoise pools and a hidden waterfall inside a cave.
The Experience
A short boat ride crosses the river at the wadi's mouth, then a 40-minute walk along the canyon floor leads to a chain of emerald pools. Swim through the final pool and squeeze through a narrow gap to reach the waterfall cave — the reward at the end.

- Canyon walk among palms and cliffs

- The hidden waterfall cave
What to Bring
Wear shoes that can get wet, bring water, sunscreen and a dry bag for your phone. You will need to swim to reach the cave, so a basic level of fitness and confidence in the water is required.
Practical Tips
Go early in the morning to avoid the crowds and the heat. Never enter the wadi when rain is forecast — flash floods are dangerous. Modest swimwear is appreciated out of respect for local custom.
